The APEIS Database has the following attributes:

Can be customized to fit the needs of any species and/or organization.

The information in the database is held in a highly secure environment.

Information held in the database is considered proprietary information and ONLY the owner of the animal has control over who can view the information.

Queries can be done on the database. The database uses only statistical information to complete the queries. No pertinent information of any one animal is released without authorized permission.

The transfer of an animal's file to a new owner is as simple as filling out the new owner information online.  By transferring the animal's file to the new owner and continuing to do so throughout the owner chain, important information previously collected in the animal life can be kept with the animal.

Uploading information collected to the database can be accomplished in a number of ways.  APEIS has an open ended database and can be adapted to an unlimited amount of sources.

APEIS also offers the option of a pen-based handheld computer unit with a modem and loaded with simple software for easy collection of information and uploading to the database.

Viewing the information in the database can be done via the Internet.

Due to the flexibility of the APEIS database, other means of viewing the information can be made available as the need arises.
